In The Art of Catalan Printmaking, some of the leading specialists from each era review, under the direction of the prestigious gallerist Artur Ramon, the history of printmaking in Catalonia, understood in a broad sense: from the first wood engravings of the Renaissance to contemporary creations linked to the emergence of digital printing.

The book consists of 6 chronologically ordered chapters, each concluding with an image gallery featuring full-page, high-quality reproductions of the most notable prints from each period.

The book concludes with a final chapter dedicated to print collecting (engravings) in our country and a glossary of terms.

The work includes a compendium of over 200 prints by the most prominent artists in the history of Catalan printmaking, reproduced with excellent quality and fidelity, 140 of which are in large format. Featuring works by Miró, Picasso, Dalí, and Tàpies, alongside specialists in this discipline such as Pasqual Moles, Jaume Pla, Joan Barbarà, Joaquim Sunyer, Francesc Xavier Nogués, Joan Brossa, Josep Guinovart, Albert Ràfols-Casamada… or the more contemporary Miquel Barceló and Jaume Plensa.

It is presented in an original and innovative lectern case that allows for comfortable and spectacular reading, enjoyment, and display of this magnificent bibliophile edition.

Authors

  • Artur Ramon: Director of the work. Art historian, antiquarian, and gallerist. Expert in 17th and 18th-century Spanish and Italian printmaking and drawing.
  • Eva Vila Pou: Doctor in Fine Arts and professor at the University of Barcelona.
  • Rafael Cornudella: Doctor in Art History and tenured professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He was a senior technician at the Department of Drawings and Prints of the MNAC.
  • Francesc Fontbona: Doctor in Art History and critic, director of the Graphic Unit of the Biblioteca de Catalunya in Barcelona from 1995 to 2013.
  • Albert Martí Palau: Art historian and antiquarian.
  • Maria Mercè Casanovas: Doctor in Fine Arts and professor at the University of Barcelona. She dedicated her thesis to Rosa Vera, a topic she addresses in the book.
  • Joan Maria Minguet: Doctor in Art History and expert in avant-garde movements. Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
  • Sol Enjuanes: Doctor in Art History. Professor at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. Responsible for the catalogue raisonné of Joan Ponç.
  • Albert Mercadé: Art historian and critic. Doctor in Humanities and graduate in Art History from the University of Barcelona and the Sorbonne University, Paris.
