Catalonia 1900-1980: History in Photographs
Presentation
This work offers a visual way to follow the years of our history from the beginning of the 20th century to the establishment of the Government of Catalonia during the post-Franco autonomy.
A global understanding of what these years of Catalonia’s history represent is achieved through the integration of photographs—the result of extensive research—with a vision developed from the advances of current historiography.
The historical narrative is constructed from thematic pages that achieve their meaning through the integration of text and image. The photographs engage in a dialogue with the text and with each other to form a whole.
Each page, therefore, has its own autonomy, but acquires full meaning within the dynamics of each chapter, each section, and the book as a whole. Based on these premises, the photographs have been selected for their semantic contribution, but also for their quality, their unpublished nature (iconic photographs have been set aside), and the diversity of their origins (from public and private archives and various photographers).
