Presentation

Understanding all that constitutes Catalan heritage is an essential element in our development as a nation. This idea has driven the publication of this new volume on Modernism, an artistic movement that forms part of the cultural legacy of the Catalan nation and should be recognized as Catalonia’s great contribution to 19th-century art.

The work has been directed by Consol Bancells, a photographer specializing in Modernism, and written by leading specialists. The introduction is by Francesc Fontbona.

Reading this volume allows one to wander through the interiors of emblematic houses in Barcelona and throughout Catalonia: living rooms, bedrooms, dining rooms, etc. It also offers the opportunity to discover in detail the great contributions of artisans and applied arts, excellent professionals who achieved spectacular results. Many of the spaces presented in this work have been photographed for the first time.
